my best guess

That's a wake-up call. I think it's safe to say this project is officially a failure. Pricing, features, design — I could list a hundred things that went wrong, but if no one's sticking around to use the app, there's not much else to explain. It's my first app, so I'm attached to it, and it was something I genuinely needed — but if the market says no, then as a product, it failed. Can't argue with that.

I thought maybe there'd be other obsessive text-block collectors out there who'd want something like this. But realistically, those people probably already have their own tools — and nothing here gave them a reason to switch.

It's worth noting that not many people even saw the product page in the first place. Then again, I wouldn't click on an app with zero reviews either. The icon was bad, and I only changed it recently. The screenshots didn't get a proper update until way later. I just didn't give people enough reason to click soon enough.

They say every failure makes the next one less likely. I'll just do better next time.

next month's delusions

I'm putting Requote on the back burner — not as my main focus for now. I don't use it any less, and I don't like it any less. If anything, I'm more attached to it now than ever. But I have to be realistic. I use it almost every day anyway, so — fix things as they come up, push updates when they make sense. If users do show up someday, I'll bring it back to the front right away. Until then, I need to make sure I'm spending my time on things that keep me from going broke. I've been watching 2 Broke Girls lately — it's funny, but I can't quite laugh. Ha.

Now that Requote takes up less of my workload, I need to figure out what fills that space. I have a few ideas for another app, but my confidence isn't exactly sky-high right now. YouTube keeps going — but if things get tighter, I know that might have to give a little too. At least the struggling part will be on camera.
